Deck & Fence Cleaning in Grain Valley, MO
Grey, weathered wood cleaned back to its natural color and prepped properly for stain or sealer.
Wood outdoors goes grey. UV breaks down the lignin at the surface, moisture lets mildew and algae settle into the grain, and within a couple of seasons a cedar deck that started out warm and golden reads flat and tired. The good news is that in most cases the color is still sitting a fraction of a millimetre down — it just needs the dead surface layer taken off correctly.
We clean wood at low pressure with a purpose-made wood cleaner, working with the grain rather than across it, and follow with a neutralizing brightener that restores the pH and pulls the natural tone back out. This is the step most DIY jobs skip, and it's the difference between wood that looks clean and wood that looks new. Turning a 3000 PSI wand on softwood does the opposite — it furs the grain, gouges the summer wood and leaves permanent wand marks you'll be sanding out for a weekend.

The service covers deck boards, railings, spindles, stair treads, stringers, pergolas, privacy fences, picket fences and outdoor furniture. Composite decking gets its own approach — a dedicated composite cleaner at very low pressure to lift the mildew film from the embossed grain without hazing or scratching the cap.
If you plan to stain or seal, timing matters. We'll tell you how long to let the wood dry out — usually 48 to 72 hours in Missouri weather — before anything goes on, and we'll flag any boards or fasteners that should be replaced while the surface is still bare and easy to work with.
A clean, brightened deck going into fall is also the single best thing you can do for its lifespan. Organic growth holds moisture against the boards straight through a Missouri winter, and moisture is what rots them.
